A letter to State Farm Insurance
writing to suggest that, when asked by a customer
for a recommendation concerning a body shop, you
strongly consider recommending American Auto Body in
Recently my new 2000 Porsche Boxter was "keyed"
while in a parking lot. The estimate for
repair by the local Porsche dealer was in excess of
$850. While State Farm agreed that this was a
fair price for the materials and labor required to
repair two panels on the car, I was somewhat
hesitant to allow such a new car to be taken apart
and put back together again.
As a result, I sought the advice of Mr. Greg
Schneider, the owner of American Auto Body.
Mr. Schneider agreed with the Porsche dealer's
estimate, but recognizing my concern, took the time
to suggest some alternatives that we might try
before taking on the repairs as originally
suggested. His honest straightforward opinions
and willingness to look at the time consuming
alternative solutions convinced me that I should let
him do the work.
The end result was that the car was repaired to my
satisfaction at a reasonable cost to State Farm and
me but at a cost less than American Auto Body could
have charged. This approach to doing business
is rare and I want only to stress that American Auto
Body can be trusted by State Farm to provide quality
service at a price equal to the effort required.
